When Comfort and Durability Matter

When Comfort and Durability Matter

Nothing can ruin a high country hunt, a weekend hiking trip, or a nice walk with your spouse and dogs quite like uncomfortable and improperly supporting shoes. Hot spots, blisters, rolled ankles, crushed toes, and whatever other unfortunate foot-related injury you may have experienced can do well to ruin what should have been a wonderful outdoor adventure. Fortunately, we have access to a bunch of footwear brands that strive - to varying degrees - to provide us with shoes and boots and sandals and waders and sneakers and more that will give us the best chance of enjoying our adventure. One such brand, Crispi, is in the upper echelon of comfort, practicality, and purpose.

For nearly 50 years, Crispi has remained dedicated to balancing tradition with technology, offering boots that deliver proven performance, comfort, and durability for even the most rugged adventures. It is the attention to that balance that has taken Crispi to the high end of hunting and hiking boot companies - the handcrafted, dedicated, and innovative craftsmanship a trademark of their brand. Between 1975 and 2016 Crispi's reputation grew too strong for US hunters and outdoorsmen to ignore. 2016 marked the start of Crispi importing to the United States - from their home in Montebelluna, Italy - and, with a heavy focus on American feedback and use data, Crispi has driven to refine their boots for the American customer, ensuring maximum comfort and durability across their lineup. This has resulted in a US-specific series of boots purpose built for the demanding pursuits we find ourselves engaged with.

Building off of their unmatched quality and dedication to performance, Crispi has built up a large lineup of boots and shoes for the American market. Many options are available with both insulated and non-insulated versions, leather and synthetic uppers, and with variances in weight, height, and stiffness - there is something for everyone.

You might have a preference in boot style that suits you and where you find your feet during the season, but everyone has things they like, don't like, need, and don't need in their boots. Maybe you want a tough leather boot that will hold up in extreme weather and keep your feet warm when the temps drop. Maybe you want a lower height, synthetic, breathable boot designed for keeping you light and agile for those long hikes. Both are perfect boot styles, suitable for very contrasting scenarios. Your personal taste might fall in the middle somewhere - where it does for me and probably for many of you as well - and Crispi has you covered across the whole range. Read on as I go over a few of the popular Crispi boots we love here at LAS.

Attiva Mid II: For the Active Hiker, Scouter, and Daily Driver.

The CRISPI® Attiva Mid II is a versatile, mid-height tool designed for those who move fluidly between the trail, the field, and daily life. It is the ideal choice for high-movement activities like early-season archery hunts, summer scouting, and setting up trail cameras. Engineered to provide a responsive and lightweight feel, the Attiva Mid II offers the protection needed for a weekend hike while remaining streamlined enough for everyday wear. Using the CRISPI® dynamic frame with a 2-flex stiffness rating, the Attiva Mid II delivers a critical balance of natural flexibility and lateral support. Utilizing our signature boardlast construction, this boot provides a stable foundation that prevents foot fatigue on uneven terrain. The mid-height design offers increased stability and protection against debris, while the integrated speed lacing system allows for a quick, precision fit that stays secure through long hours on your feet. To ensure performance in unpredictable conditions, a 100% waterproof GORE-TEX® lining provides a breathable barrier that keeps your feet dry through morning dew or shallow stream crossings. Comfort is driven by the CRISPI® EVA Elastoflex Midsole, providing a cushioned, responsive ride and superior shock absorption. Handcrafted with a blend of water-repellent suede and breathable synthetic materials, this boot is a specialized tool that bridges the gap between technical performance and daily comfort.

Lapponia Pro: For the Mobile Extreme Hunter.

The CRISPI® Lapponia Pro delivers premium greased nubuck leather durability at just 1 lb 6 oz—the versatile 9-inch boot for serious hunters from September through November. The CRISPI® Full Control Outsole by Vibram® features Megagrip rubber that gets tackier when wet, providing confident traction on steep terrain. The Dynamic Frame (2.5-Flex rating) and dual-density EVA midsole deliver excellent comfort and ground feel while preventing ankle fatigue on long days. Premium greased nubuck leather stays supple and resists abrasion. A full rubber rand and 100% waterproof GORE-TEX bootie protect against harsh conditions. The proprietary Ankle Bone Support System (A.B.S.S.) contours to your ankle to prevent rolls and reduce joint fatigue. Asymmetrical lacing and Integrated Gaiter Technology complete the package.

Stivale: For Rugged Work and Everyday Style.

Introducing the Stivale, the newest member of Crispi's Urban Outdoor category, crafted for those who seamlessly blend rugged work with everyday style. This handmade boot is ideal for work, ranch, farm, yard tasks, and casual outings, offering a perfect balance of functionality and elegance. The Stivale features an 11-inch soft toe design and is constructed on a 1 Flex boardlast with a stitched-on Vibram outsole and an EVA foam midsole that cushions every step, reducing fatigue during long days. Guide GTX: For the Late Season Pro.

When you think about mountain hunting, think of the Guide on your feet. This 10" boot uses Nubuck leather, 200 gram of insulation, a full GORE-TEX® sock, a CRISPI® x Vibram® Megagrip sole, and with a 3 Flex stiffness rating making the Guide a great hunting boot that will allow you to hunt anywhere, ensuring maximum waterproof and breathable protection against extended exposure to extreme, severe wet or snowy conditions. If you're chasing sheep on the steep, shale rock or looking for upland game in the low prairie lands, this mountain boot has you covered. No more needing to worry about busted up ankles during long, heavy packouts. The Guide has got you (and your ankles) covered. Optimal use: Midseason and late season hunts. Deer hunting, elk hunting, sheep hunting, goat hunting, mid to late season upland game bird hunting, and bear hunting.

Attiva Hiking Shoes: For the Lightweight Trail Runner and Mobile Early Season Hunter.

With the efforts to provide the hunter with every tool he could need, Crispi created the Attiva. A lightweight trail runner built specifically for the hunter in mind. They've utilized a new Vibram Litebase outsole to provide excellent traction while cutting weight. The midsole is an EVA foam providing comfort while remaining feather light. The upper of the Attiva is a combination of perforated leather and breathable synthetic allowing increased breathability along with durability to withstand the rigors hunters put their gear through. They have specifically left Gore-Tex out of the Attiva in order to lighten the shoe as well as make it as breathable as possible. Where the Attiva leaves all other trail runners behind is in its boardlast construction. Crispi utilized the same boardlast construction from their hunting boots and implemented it into the Attiva to provide a stable platform while on rocks or unstable terrain. Another key feature is the new speed lacing system introduced to make removal or adjustments easy when in a hurry.
