Shrewd have made a name for themselves in the target archery world, and a very respected name at that. Their various stabilizer and scope systems have been mainstays in competitive archery - and they still are - but now, Shrewd have set their 'sights' on a new kind of target.
With the release of their Trak hunting stabilizer last year, a stabilizer that uses their proprietary INDX system in conjunction with enhanced vibration-dampening technology, they announced to the market their intent to take more of the hunting stabilizer market. Sure, their Vantage series hunting stabilizers were already popular, but the Trak added advanced features and customization that the Vantage series did not contain.
You could use their Optum scope system with the 2- or 3-vertical pin system for your hunting pursuits, and many prefer those vertical pin scopes, but now they have released a horizontal, adjustable 3-pin scope designed specifically to be taken into the field. Enter their Optum MULTI 3-Pin Hunting Scope Ring.
A horizontal 3-pin scope might be the most popular hunting scope orientation in history, so many will be intimately familiar with shooting through one. Shrewd's new scope isn't anything you've seen before, though. Their new 3-pin scope works within their Optum Scope.
If you are not familiar with Shrewd's Optum Scope System, here is a small diagram to give you a visual on how it all works.

From this visual, you can see that quite a lot of pieces are incorporated into the Optum system - or at least they can be. Pictured above is a scope built out with a scope body, pin ring, lens housing, visibility ring, rear sunshade, and a stepped sunshade. In reality, you only need a scope body and pin system in order to shoot - using only these two will match many hunting sight style that you might be used to.
The new 3-pin scope ring will fit into this system 3rd from the left, where the single-pin ring sits. All you need to attach Optum pin rings to Optum scope bodies are the two small screws included with your pin ring. From there, you can add as many accessories as you wish, or keep everything off for a simple, streamlined hunting scope system.
There is one caveat, though. The Optum scope system comes in three sizes: 29mm, 35mm, and 40mm. The new Shrewd 3-pin hunting ring is only compatible with the 35/40mm scope - there is no compatibility with the smaller 29mm offering, not that you would want that in a hunting setup anyway.
Back to the new 3-pin ring system.
This new pin ring has essentially anything a hunter might need, built in. The pins are individually adjustable - all you need is the short turn of an Allan key to loosen each one and the raised adjustment pieces and laser-engraved lines make precise adjustment quick and simple.
The fiber is covered by a translucent ring along the front of the housing, which ensures maximum protection and light retention without allowing for starbursting in bright environments. If you find that you do need a little extra light - in cases of early mornings, late evenings, thick timber, or use in a ground blind - the Multi Ring includes a canted and 8-32 threaded hole for attaching the sight light of your choice.
The pins themselves are also designed for the modern hunter, with both .010" and .019" diameter available for any hunting scenario you might find yourself in. The thing profile of the pins provide a clear sight picture with almost no visual obstruction. Tighter pin gaps accommodate the flatter trajectories of modern high-performance bows, while extended pin travel offers the adjustment range needed for those long-range shots and heavy arrow setups.

The laser-engraving on the side of the pin housing also includes a 'center of scope' mark so you can always return a pin to the exact center of the scope when necessary.
To match your hunting setup, the good folks at Shrewd are offering the Multi pin system in four popular hunting colors: Black, Terra, Flint, and Timber. Black is, well, black. Terra would match your OD green accessories. Flint is the dark grey offering, while Timber is dark brown (think Mathews Kodiak).
Finally, the whole pin system ring comes in at a light 1.76 total ounces.
The Optum Scope System was already a leader in the market, and the new Multi Hunting Ring takes it to a whole new level. It is the same standard - the same attention to detail - that makes Shrewd scopes great. Happily built to that high standard by American hands in Salem, Virginia.
