Hoyt Alpha AX-2 29 Compound Hunting Bow
Description
Scary Speed and Unmatched Accuracy
The popularity and performance of the Alpha X is back and better than ever.
Introducing the Hoyt AX-2, Hoyt’s aluminum flagship hunting bow for 2025. With redesigned riser geometry, updated limbs and limb pockets, and the highly efficient HBX gen 4 module system, this bow is deadly accurate, scary light, super fast, and ultra stable.
The main point of interest within the 2025 Hoyt AX-2 series is the incredible level of efficiency. The AX-2 has an FPS increase at every available poundage and draw length over the older Alpha X series, all while being lighter and containing a smoother draw cycle. This is thanks in part to the updated limbs, pockets, and riser geometry. The main thanks must go to the HBX cam, though, which contains a truly optimized module system that makes certain no energy or performance is lost in translation. The AX-2 series squeezes every bit of power out of each draw length and weight that it possibly can, all while being a quarter pound lighter than the legendary Alpha X series.
The AX-2 29 is also the shortest bow that Hoyt has ever produced, but don’t let that smaller frame fool you, it shoots at distance with the big boys. Easily grouping arrows at far away targets, this aluminum framed model from Hoyt utilizes its advanced geometry, cam system, and natural point of aim to overcome issues that short A2A bows usually encounter.
A fantastic choice for those Eastern whitetail treestand hunters, the integrated accessories combined with the smaller frame and lightweight design mean the Hoyt AX-2 is here to dominate the whitetail woods – and if you choose to take it out West, it’ll hold its own against the big boys out there, too.

Why LAS Likes the Hoyt AX-2 Series:
Being Hoyt’s shortest A2A bow ever (tied with one from a few years back) we would have thought it was going to be an overly aggressive, short range, lightweight beast. As it turns out, though, only the last of those guesses ended up being true. It is a lightweight beast, but it shoots just as well as long axle-to-axle bows when firing at distance, and it delivers its promises when it comes to its speed rating. That doesn’t mean it is overly aggressive, mind you, as this is also a very smooth draw cycle, especially for a Hoyt. All of that means this bow is lightning quick, ultra-light, and performs at distance like a target bow. If you’re in the market for an Eastern treestand bow, 100% consider the Hoyt AX-2.
