If you happened to look through the trail camera section of our website, or if you happened to see Tactacam's 2026 products in our new arrivals collection, then you may have noticed a certain strange looking product that resembles a gold ball in a bird cage. I know the first time I saw the photo of it - not yet knowing what is was - that I was intrigued. A quick glance at the name and you'll see 'Bluetooth Wind Sensor' and that might yet raise even more questions, if only for a second or two.
In what may be the most fascinating and interest-inducing trail camera accessory to come out for a while, Tactacam's Wind Sensor wirelessly connects to one of your Reveal 3.0, 4.0, and Ultra wireless trail cameras and is capable of sending multiple points of real-time and historic wind data right to your phone. With a battery capacity that allows it to run for a whole year on just 3x AA batteries, a 0-55mph wind speed range, and a connectivity distance of up to 50ft, this really is a legitimate game-changer for next season.
You might be thinking, "Well, I've just used the weather app on my phone to check the wind and that has worked fine." My retort to that would be to quote the philosopher Socrates who is said to have said, "I know that I know nothing." Just because you have killed deer while using a weather app doesn't mean that you won't kill even more deer if you used this wind sensor. You don't know what you don't know. Rather than having vague and generalized wind predictions guide your choice for hunt location, wouldn't you rather have real-time, spot-specific wind speed and direction information to help make that important choice? One of the keys of the accuracy of this device is that it reads the wind from under the canopy - where you'd be hunting - so it can be more precise about the conditions on the ground when compared to weather services.

There are multiple data points that are collected and sent through this device, which means you can analyze this data in multiple ways in order to best help with your hunting forecasts. It automatically collects and updates the information on the Reveal app and, using the built-in e-compass, it allows you to utilize real-time wind information as well as compare stored historical wind data for extremely precise forecasting.
The covered and caged system means you can utilize the sensor in adverse weather conditions such as snow and rain, while the -4 degree to 140 degree operating range ensures reliable data year-round. The device can also store ongoing data to send at a later time when the temperature dips above or below its operating temperature - a storage range from -40 to 185 degrees.
All in all, this is a unique and innovative piece of hunting and scouting gear that can help dial in your plans this Fall. You can view it HERE. You can also see all our Tactacam products HERE.
